Christmas Break Diary

An amazing Christmas break spent with family in Wine Country...
This holiday season Asia and I headed up to the Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley. I left LA on Thursday night while Asia finished her work week until Friday. When I woke up on Friday morning it was pouring. I glanced outside of my window and saw an incredible display of spanish moss. The gloomy weather made me want to bundle up in a blanket and sit in front of the fireplace all day. So, that's exactly what I did. I spent the day relaxing, drinking tea, and painting in my sketchbook. It was a nice change not having to stress about homework and deadlines.
The entire week was simply peaceful.
The next morning I took Gypsy on a long walk around the ranch. We explored the various trails and discovered best locations in the valley. Doesn't she look so cute in her little Christmas sweater?! Afterwards we enjoyed herbal tea and lemon cucumber water at the Bath House. Shortly after, we headed into the city to buy some authentic Napa Valley wines and various condiments such as fig tapenade. We walked along the main street, window shopping, and then head back to the ranch.  By that time Asia had just arrived. We spent the night enjoying each others' company in front of the fireplace.

It was another morning in Napa Valley. This was the first day it didn't rain and we were finally able to enjoy our surroundings. We ate breakfast, eggs benedict and kobe beef hash, and then hit the wineries. Some were flooded due to the rain, but the wineries we were able to see were beautiful. Each one was so different from the last and they all came with their own unique history. It was such a great time just being able to spend time with the family.
Our next day was spent entirely at the Indian Springs Resort. Asia and I got swedish massages and enjoyed the resort's 100% natural hot spring. They pump water directly from the Earth into an olympic sized swimming pool. The mineral water reached temperatures of about 110 degrees. I lost all track of time in that pool. I think we were in there for about four or five hours!
For Christmas we headed to our grandparent's house in Monterey. After we crossed over the golden gate bridge we were on our way. We met up with our entire extended family, ate, and opened presents. It was so nice seeing everyone like it is with every major holiday. Asia and I are so blessed to have a huge Chinese family that loves to cook and play board games!

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos from Christmas day but these are post Christmas. Throughout the week I was brainstorming ideas for my Cooper Union application. My dad and I headed down to the Fisherman's Wharf where I was able to finalize the ideas for my art. Although we were supposed to be on vacation I was able to get a lot of work done, everything from college apps to Once Youth. Gypsy was able to get away from smoggy LA and explore freely on the countryside. Asia and my parents were able to take a well deserved break from their jobs. We all had an amazing time sharing this perfect holiday together! I hope all of you had a great break as well!
I'm pleased to announce that our production is finally complete! We have our 2013 lookbook shoot scheduled for January 26th. That means the clothes will be available to all of you very soon! Get ready this next collection is gonna be insane!! xxx
