Thanksgiving break in Monterey: Family, Food, and Fun!
I apologize before hand for not documenting our entire trip, but here are a few of the highlights!
For Thanksgiving break Asia and I headed up to Monterey. We left LA early Thursday morning and drove up the coast for about 5 hours. After our arrival we spent the remainder of the day with family. We had a delicious Chinese/American Thanksgiving feast full of turkey, stuffing, yams, steamed fish, noodle salad, lap chung, and much more. I know everyone was beyond stuffed by the end of the night. Somehow, we managed to stand and walk to our car. Asia and I ended our night in our hotel's salt water jacuzzi. I'd say it was a successful Thanksgiving!
The next morning Asia woke up at 5am to go fishing off the coast of Big Sur. She bought a fishing license and hiking boots while I stayed fast asleep in our hotel. As soon as I woke, I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which has been one of my favorite places since I was a little boy. I've been a member for as long as I can remember. They recently opened this amazing jellyfish exhibit called 'The Jellyfish Experience' which was full of psychedelic displays and brilliant colors. I could honestly spend days in the aquarium. Random fact: I was set on being a marine biologist until the age of 14.
The next morning Asia and I took our baby Gypsy to the beach for the first time. We let her off the leash and she was free to run for miles along the coast. She's such a cutie!
Our trip was beyond fun! It is always great spending time with our extended family and of course, eating. I'm thankful for everyone who has impacted my life and made me the person I am today. I'm thankful for an amazing family with loving parents and a crazy sister. I'm thankful for God's grace. And lastly, I'm thankful for Once Youth. It has allowed me to do things and go place most wouldn't be able to in their entire lifetime. x Evan
