A behind the scenes look at Once Youth's S/S 2013 Lookbook Photo Shoot!
An incredible day spent with incredible people...
For the past few months Asia and I have been running around downtown LA trying to get our Spring collection finished. We had so many set-backs, but I'm starting to realize that it's all a part of the process. Nothing ever runs exactly as you want it to. Luckily for us each obstacle we faced worked for our own benefit. After months of hard work Asia and I completed our Spring collection and were finally ready to photograph our new lookbook. We spent all week gathering clothes, shoes, and accessories to style our big shoot. Hair and make-up were planned, and slowly each look started taking form. Our creative vision for Once Youth was perfect.
The day of: The crew arrived at 11 am and began the set-up. We steamed clothes, organized shoes, and took a few test shots. Chach filmed, Rena was on hair, Janessa did the make-up, and Matt was there for moral support. The team worked perfectly together, and even though it was a 12 hour day we all managed to do our jobs excellently. Our first model, Sideara, arrived and our Once Youth day officially began. Hair and make-up went to work as she tried on each outfit. We shot in our studio as well as on the rooftop. Models came in and out. Our team was working around the clock from one model to the next. Even the crew managed to play dress up and got their photo taken in the new collection. The energy in our studio was upbeat and helped fuel us during the long day.
I know I've said it before, but these long photo shoots are my all-time favorite thing to be a part of. There's nothing better than being in good company and creating beautiful images. The whole creative process behind these shoots is surreal. Starting with a vision of clothes, make-up, hair, and seeing it come to life. It's draining, yet invigorating and worthwhile. Our thanks go out to everyone who helped on this Once Youth milestone! We couldn't have done it without any of you!!
